Join the Internal Communications Camp in Paris on 9th October 2015!
Katharina Auer, Global Head of Employee & Executive Communications, Group Marketing & Communications at Zurich Insurance, will be joining the IC Camp Paris in October as a speaker once again. Madmagz got the opportunity to interview and gain insights.
How does the IC function help facilitate change?
Take the lead, be pro-active, and focus on business outcomes. Don’t wait to be asked, as often that doesn’t happen until it is too late and project has advanced without taking into account employee perspectives and needs. Communicators needs to be involved at the start of every change project and work as members of any change project team.
IC provides the strategic communications frameworks and plans to help any change project succeed. Often we also have a much bigger view of the organization, and we have our communication networks – and we are well placed to highlight dependencies, potential risks and issues, as well as other projects going on in the organization; in short: help connect the dots. We are the experts when it comes to communications and that applies to change communications, too.
What do you do to increase the IC function’s credibility at Zurich Insurance?
Employee & Executive Communications at Zurich focus very much on strategic and integrated communications approaches, supported by solid metrics and measurement; we focus on business outcomes. In any area we support, we focus on the business need, success definition and clearly defined SMART communication objectives first, before we think about tactics, tools or channels.
What do I expect from the 9 October IC Camp?
I’m looking forward to lively interaction and networking, and hopefully my presentation will add value, stimulate ideas and discussion – with a bit of fun.
